Falla Pintor Domingo – Guillem de Castro is one of the commissions with the longest history in the city of Valencia, located in the El Pilar – Sant Francesc sector.

According to the archives of Junta Central Fallera, our official foundation dates back to 1885, although there are documented references that place our origins in 1881, when a falla was planted in Santa Teresa Street under the name Pintor Domingo – Santa Teresa, between La Parra and Santa Teresa streets. This allows us to proudly state that we have more than 140 years of fallera history.

Throughout our history we have adopted different names, such as Pintor Domingo – Encarnación, Pintor Domingo – Santa Teresa or Pintor Domingo – Borrull, until definitively establishing the current one. We have also played an active role in strengthening the fallera movement, being a founding commission of the Sagunto-Quart Fallas Group, the Fallas Center of Valencia, and El Pilar-Sant Francesc.

We have planted without interruption in different areas of our district since 1958, and among the most notable historical milestones, it should be mentioned that in 1951 we obtained a Ninot Indultat with “Paquito, apprentice painter“, a work by José Barea, inspired by his son José Barea Rocafull.

In 1968, Ángel Daud Bayarri and Mª del Pilar Gil Fornés were appointed Honorary Presidents for life of our commission, a distinction that reflects their commitment, dedication, and deep affection for the Falla Pintor Domingo – Guillem de Castro.

The children’s commission was inaugurated in 1969, and since then it has built a solid track record. In 2009, we received the extraordinary award for llibrets for a new author from Lo Rat Penat, thanks to the poet Vicente López Torres.

Did you know that our falla once had a Married Ladies Commission? It was founded by Mª del Pilar Gil Fornés, Fallera Mayor of that commission in 1978, and remained active from 1978 until 1985. How much history has changed since then.

As for honorary recognitions, Junta Central Fallera awarded us the Bunyol Col·lectiu amb Fulles de Llorer i Brillants for the main falla in 1993, and in 2009 the Distintiu Col·lectiu for the children’s falla.

Our commission experienced a period of great activity and splendor in the 1980s, reaching more than 150 members. In 1988 we won the 1st prize in Section 3C with the falla “Valencia, la mar ¿de qué?“, and we were recognized on numerous occasions by Junta Central Fallera with awards for fallera activity and theater in Valencian.

In recent years, Pintor Domingo has entered a new period of growth and renewed prominence within the Fallas community. In 2019, we won 1st Prize in Section 8C with the falla “Va de ciris”, while in 2024 and 2025 we received 1st Prize for Wit and Charm in both years.

The year 2025 marked an important turning point for our commission. Our main falla won 4th Prize in Section 8B and 1st Prize for Wit and Charm, while our ninot “Arròs amb Coses” won 1st Prize in its section and 1st Prize for Wit and Charm at the Exposición del Ninot, as well as being nominated for the Raga Awards. These results came at a time when our commission was beginning to grow again and regain strength after several more difficult years.

That growth was consolidated in 2026. Our main falla, “The Fake Art”, achieved a historic double, winning 1st Prize in Section 8B and 1st Prize for Wit and Charm. It was the first time in our history that the same falla had won both first prizes. Our children’s falla, “Fem massa fem”, also took on the challenge of moving up significantly in category and achieved 8th Prize in Section 20 and 3rd Prize for Wit and Charm.

But Pintor Domingo’s growth during these years has gone far beyond awards. Our commission has steadily increased its number of members, welcomed new families and seen growing participation in activities at our casal and throughout our neighbourhood. We have brought back traditions that had not been celebrated for years, introduced new activities and once again had four representatives, something that had not happened for many years.

This 2027, Pintor Domingo has taken another important step with its return to the El Pilar – Sant Francesc Fallas Association, of which Pintor Domingo was a founding commission. This return allows us to reconnect with an important part of our history while strengthening our presence and participation alongside the other commissions within both the sector and the Association.

Today, more than 140 years after those first references dating back to 1881, Pintor Domingo continues to write its history. A history built by generations of falleros that now enters a new chapter with a commission that is growing once again, new projects and, above all, a strong desire to continue making falla together.
