It had been a long time since we last held it, but this year we decided to bring back one of those traditions that forms part of our commission’s history. On the night of 18 March, our Paella Competition returned to Pintor Domingo.

It was clear from the very beginning just how much everyone had been looking forward to its return. There was a fantastic turnout, with groups of falleros gathering around the paella pans, preparing dinner, sharing tables and, of course, debating who had made the best paella.

There was a competition, a jury and prizes, of course, but that night the results were almost the least important part. What really mattered was coming together again around a tradition we had not celebrated for many years and enjoying a Fallas evening with friends, fellow members and family.

“Paellas, friends, family and plenty of Fallas spirit. The prizes were the least important thing: what really mattered was being together again.”
