Two first prizes. We had never achieved it before. The afternoon of 16 March will forever be part of Pintor Domingo’s history. The Junta Central Fallera awards announcement confirmed a historic double for our main falla, “The Fake Art”: 1st Prize in Section 8B and 1st Prize for Wit and Charm.
It was a historic result for our commission. For the first time, a Pintor Domingo falla had achieved both first prize in its section and first prize for Wit and Charm in the same year, providing the best possible recognition for a project we had worked on and believed in from the very beginning.
“The Fake Art” once again allowed us to demonstrate some of the hallmarks we want our fallas to maintain: wit, criticism and humour, this time accompanied by 1st Prize in Section 8B. A historic double that we especially want to share with and thank our artists, NinotX, for their work, commitment and for continuing to grow alongside Pintor Domingo.
And after an afternoon that will be difficult to forget, the following morning it was time to do something we had been looking forward to: collecting our two first prizes. On 17 March, our representatives, accompanied by the commission, paraded to Plaza del Ayuntamiento to collect the two banners recognising a result that is now part of our history and that provided the perfect finishing touch to a project we will never forget.
During the day, we also had the honour of collecting the First Prize for Neighbourhood Criticism, awarded by the Junta Municipal de Ciutat Vella, in recognition of our children’s ninot “Lady Caca”.
